Fund-a-Scholar: Donate to benefit BSF Scholars and their families!

Help us provide financial assistance and support services to academically motivated underserved students.

$1,260 towards $500

I'm fundraising to support BSF's Fund-a-Scholar Program!

I'm asking my friends, family, and colleagues to support Black Student Fund's social fundraising campaign Fund-a-Scholar.

For over 50 years, the BSF's comprehensive programs have helped underserved students achieve success at local independent schools. Through the Fund-a-Scholar program, BSF matches donors to BSF scholars for a social fundraising campaign. My BSF scholar is Joshua McFarlin at Langley School and I'm asking for you to donate to our scholarship fund in Joshua's honor.

Joshua McFarlin is a bright and engaged rising first grader. He is a swimmer who also loves tee ball and soccer. Teachers note that Joshua is an eager learner and an awesome helper with his classmates. He is also an obedient son and loving big brother to his nine-month-old sister.

About The Black Student Fund: The Black Student Fund (BSF) provides essential advocacy, academic and retention support to academically motivated African American and other underserved students to facilitate their access, admission and successful matriculation and graduation from member schools. BSF partners with member schools to provide financial assistance, as well as instruction, evaluations, feedback and monitoring necessary to facilitate the creation and maintenance of a supportive and responsive environment. For over 50 years, BSF has had unprecedented success with its scholars:

  • 99% of BSF scholars have graduated from high school
  • 95% have matriculated to a four-year college or university
  • 85% have graduated from college or a university
  • Approximately 1/3 of BSF scholars have earned graduate or professional degrees
